Expert: Tokenization of football clubs will not help the crypto industry
“Tokenization can benefit the sports sector, but it is unlikely to bring any benefits to the cryptocurrency industry,” claims a member of the Expert Council on Digital Economy and Blockchain Technologies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Alexander Bespalov in his comment for LetKnow.News.
"In the area of sports, tokenisation may well be in demand and bring concrete benefits - both to fans who can thus participate in the distribution of profits from a particular player or team, and for a sports team and its producers - from the point of view of attracting additional financing," the expert believes.
According to him, there are almost all the components for the successful implementation of tokenisation in football.
“The advantage of the industry is that it already has the most important thing needed for tokenisation - the initial loyal community, demand, the presence of an“ idol ”- a leader in opinions and other necessary components of the success of any crowdfunding. At the same time, the possibility of monetisation is quite understandable and logical. And the
blockchain can help organise the necessary transparency of all processes here,” the expert is convinced.
However, he doubts that tokenisation in football will make cryptocurrencies popular.
“I do not think that such projects can greatly affect the popularity of cryptocurrencies. Tokenization of sports assets (players, teams, companies) will be more likely just an addition to existing activities and a certain “loyalty program” rather than something related to cryptocurrencies. Those are different audiences, more precisely, even if there can be only one audience, but different tasks are being solved and emphasis is put on different aspects,” Bespalov added.
